Spring is in the air...

Its time to put away the scarves, mitts and boots, and bring out the umbrellas, ponchos and sunglasses.
Or, for your home bring out the bright colours and fresh flowers. Its time to revive your decor with accessories that will help bring spring into your space.

Here are 5 great ways to help welcome the new season into your home.

1:Vases - Now that it is spring, this means we"ll be seeing pretty blooms everywhere so why not bring them right into your home? Use tall or short vases to showcase some greenery or flowers on tabletops, side tables and in the front entryway. (All the vases I have displayed below in the pictures, I spray painted them in a gold finish)

2:Scented Candles - Candles are a lovely option and great for anywhere in your home. Oil diff-users are a great way to add a fresh Scent to your home as well without having to leave a candle burning. I especially love the "white Jasmine" by Zara Home.

3:De-clutter - Spring is the best time to give your home a thorough cleaning, and with cleaning comes de-cluttering. Time to get rid of all the extra clutter that your house accumulated through the winter months.

4:Throws - The nights can still get chilly in the early spring months, but not enough for those thick throws. Opt for a lighter throw, and maybe change up the colours a bit to brighten and freshen your space.

5:Shells and Birds - Small accessories like shells or birds are a great way to bring spring into your home as well. They look great on top of books, trays or even shelves.

Make A Creative Statement With A New Throw Pillow

3/6/2016

Just as a new piece of art makes a creative statement on your wall, a new throw pillow makes a creative statement on your sofa, chair or bed. There are so many unique colours and patterns,  its hard not to get excited about the design possibilities.  On my blog today I want to share my passion for pillows. Not only do throw pillows provide an affordable option for giving your space a makeover,  they can change the tone of your interior with one small pop of colour and pattern.

I like to change up my pillows from season to season, my pillow colours for spring and summer this year are fuchsia pink and navy blue. My inspiration this year came from my coffee table.  I have a book with the letter O on it, in Fuchsia Pink and flowers that are in the same colour which you can see in the pictures below.  I tend to gravitate to soft neutral tones for my home, however Im loving these colours for spring and summer this year. Its nice to change it up from time to time.  Not over doing it of course just a few pops of fuchsia was all I needed.

Don't be afraid to mix different patterns together it creates interest. Try mixing three patterns in a range of scales, such as geometric, floral and a solid.  In my pictures you will see i didn't use a solid as a third choice only because I had the navy blue and white diamond shaped slip covers from last summer. With saying that the patterns go well as the fuchsia pink pillows to the left are a diamond shape so they flow together effortlessly.

My mom loves to sew, she was gracious to lend a helping hand and sew all my pillows in just a couple hours.  She's awesome, THANKS MOM!  I love a good sale, I purchased all my fabric for only $12 a meter. Reg.$24 {SWEET DEAL} For under $30 I was able to have 5 throw pillows re-done.  Slip covers are a great alternative if you don't sew.  I hope this post inspired you today to make a creative statement with some new throw pillows.
